My Chemical Romance at The Roxy – 07/31/09

I’ve been really lazy about the blog, but I’ve decided I need to get back to it.  Last weekend I was lucky enough to shoot My Chemical Romance at The Roxy in Los Angeles. I love shooting in small clubs and when it’s a huge band like MCR, it’s even more fun.  This was a great opportunity to get something other than the typical “shots from the pit”, even if it meant practically laying on the stage for most of the show to get the angles that I wanted (no three song rule this time). I really wanted to be able to show the band interacting with the fans.

In the studio with Nations Afire

Nations Afire is a new band featuring Chris Chasse (ex-Rise Against), Brett Rasmussen & Nik Hill (Ignite), Todd Hennig (Death by Stereo) and vocalist Steve Ludwig.  They’re on tour in Europe right now in support of their new cd “The Uprising.” I spent a few days with them in the studio while they recorded the album with Producer Cameron Webb and at the rehearsal studio getting ready for their first show.

Define the Meaning

I shot the cover for the new issue of Define the Meaning magazine with Dan Andriano & Matt Skiba of Alkaline Trio, Brian Fallon of The Gaslight Anthem, Tim McIlrath of Rise Against & Thrice’s Dustin Kensrue.

I shot this at the House of Blues in Las Vegas before their show in November.  It was a fun but quick shoot.  I had about 15 minutes with the guys.  Security was waiting for us to finish and get our stuff out so they could open the doors.

I shot the shows both nights too.  Good times!!
